This was definitely on our bucket list: We wanted to see the famous Supertrees of Singapore. As high as 50 metres, but man-made and covered with bromeliads. They are vertical gardens that tower over Marina Bay Gardens in several groves. There is a skyway that brings you close to the tree tops of the biggest trees.
They are majestic. They do not try to mimick actual trees, but rather they elicit the feeling you might have in the presence of large jungle trees. In the evening, about 20 minutes to 8 o’clock, they are illuminated to a rousing musical tune. It may be total kitsch, but it is also beautiful and moving.
