Singapore has many beautiful parks, but among them the Botanical Gardens is still worth the time. For us it had two highlights. Not surprisingly the orchid garden, but also the beautiful Palm Valley.
We still find it hard to get over the fact that the plants we expect inside a greenhouse are growing outside over here and the inside of a greenhouse is actually cooler than the surrounding climate. Also, over here it seems a big deal to have an actual ‘Swan Lake’ whereas at home we have plenty of swans on the rivers and have learned to keep our distance, because in spite of their beauty they can be nasty when they feel that you have no business being near them.
The park is beautifully kept. And the orchids come in many interesting shapes and colours. Famous people have hybrid orchids dedicated to them and you can walk on small walkways and read the signs and wonder who might have decided which V.I.P. was to be honoured in this way.
